Last week I took Kaleb back to Dartmouth for a hearing test. He was routinely getting these every 3 months or so. Remember that he had surgery back in December of 2007 to fix his hearing problem, but according to his hearing results 3 months after the surgery there was no improvement. We were sad, but happy that Kaleb could finally hear well with his new hearing aid. He's been doing well with it, wore it faithfully to school everyday. I know that it has helped him improve in his daily work. Well...at this latest hearing test we found out that Kaleb's hearing is now within normal limits. We were all shocked. Nobody expected this, not even his own mother. My jaw was on the floor. Their only theory is that his body must have taken longer to heal than normal. My theory? Maybe all that wrestling with his dad knocked things back into place. Whatever the reason we are thrilled! He will have to hold on to his hearing aid "just in case" for about a year. He'll continue to have hearing tests every 3 months and as long as things are stable, he'll be able to donate his hearing aid to their hearing bank. We're keeping our fingers crossed!

Ahhh what a wonderful blessing you are all very deserving of. I hope he continues to do well.
Congratulations, Kaleb. You are so fortunate; my wife, her mother, and one of our daughters can't hear much at all, especially if there is any background noise. So I hope that your hearing stays well all your life.
Thanks papa don...it was welcomed news.
Becky,
This is nothing short of a miracle.
What fantastic news! I love that photo too!
great news, cute couple!
That is wonderful, Becky! You truly have had a lot to go through with your kiddos, and yet you go through it well, and with much faith! I am sure it is the faith of a mother that has a son who now has hearing within the normal range. I love hearing stuff like this!!!
Awesome news Kaleb. Prayers for you to be able to donate the hearing aid next year!
Yeah! It's the karate. Amy Jo
Kaleb: I LOVE you! (Can you hear me?!)

What wonderful news!! There are miracles all around us, and Kaleb is one of them. So happy for you. My mother had deafness and had a stapedectomy. When the doctor asked her if she could hear him, she told him she could. Hearing birds, water running, toilet flushing were all new sounds to her and that lasted for 10 years and then she had to resort back to the hearing aid, but it was a wonderful gift. And, we couldn't talk behind her back because she could hear us! Yikes! Anyway, Kaleb, I am thrilled that your test was so positive and let's hope it stays that way and that you can donate your hearing aid to another child in the future. Lots of love. Aunt Shirley
Great news! I'm happy for you you, Kaleb!
That is such great news. My sister is 23 and we still have to remind her to put in her hearing aids. I am glad he won't be needing them anymore!!
This is wonderful news. So exciting! Congratulations, Kaleb!
