It's always a sad time at the Orton house when this time of year rolls around. I think I'm just as bad as my kids if not worse in not wanting them to go back to school. This year has been harder than in years past because I was sick all summer. Thanks to many family members and lots of friends, my kids were able to still have a fantastic summer.

Ben hanging with us at our local Gilford Beach.
I LOVE this boy!
Orton and Hutchins' children having some good bonding time.
More time spent with the Hutchins' cousins. We love these girls!!
The LAST HURRAH of summer. Rachael and her girls, Jenny and her girls and my mom all came up to my neck of the woods for one last beach day together.
GOODBYE SUMMER...hope to see you again REAL SOON!!!

Looks like a fitting end to summer.
It won't long and summer will be back at your doorstep.

a day at the beach is just the perfect way to say goodbye to summer and hello to fall. I started to get sad about summer being over but then I started thinking about all the GREAT fall things to do and you live in the BEST place in the world for fall...New England (it doesn't get any better)

Do we have to say goodbye to summer already? Just because the kids are back in school doesn't mean the grown-ups can't still have some fun! ;)

Looks like you sent summer out in style! Good luck with the start of school!

I am with you, I did not like sending Reagan back to school and for a whole day this year, I hate it. The nice thing is he loves it and so I guess I can't complain too much! Looks like fun times with cousins, cousins are the best!

I'm crying... but Fall IS my favorite time of the year! (And Tom's right--summer will be knocking on our door before we know it!) That's what I LOVE about New England! You get a FULL taste of all the seasons. Change IS good!

Hi Ortons! This is Rocky and I just joined the blog world. Mom says your blogsite was an inspiration to her to do a blog for me. I'm sad to see summer end but they said fall up here in NE is pretty nice, so I'm looking forward to that. Say hi to Kayla for me. I haven't seen her for a while. Thanks, Rocky

When my girls were little, my friends thought I was nuts cause I hated to send them back to glad to hear moms like you and Nicole feel the same way...And I think that going to the beach on any warm day beats doing most anything else!!! I do love Fall, but I too will miss those summer days...till next year!

UM, 'SCUSE ME, BECKY....but they're saying 86 and warm on Thursday! :) I'm not saying BYE yet! (wink wink)

I still have the 2 little ones at home so I'm only missing Noah and Kara. Even though I'm not loving that summer is ending, I'm enjoying "slowing down".
