RUNNING ON A FEVER

This is a picture of a kid playing soccer with a FEVER!
(who happens to be my child)
Fever boy still managed to assist on a goal.
And then score one himself.
They won 3-2.
The END.

MY NEW BEST FRIEND

Dear Mom,

I know I just got back from the Dr.'s office where I was told that my iron was really, really low and we had a nice conversation about my new diet and how it should contain lots and lots of "iron rich" foods. Well...after doing much research on my handy-dandy computer, I realized how much a diet rich in chocolate could help me with my iron problem. I got straight to work on my new diet by eating a WHOLE cadbury chocolate bar for lunch, and you know what? It even had ALMONDS in it - total BONUS. I'm feeling much better already!

(or is that the seratonin?)

Your loving daughter,

Becky

STEVIE MAREE

This morning as Stevie was getting ready for school I pulled out my camera to take a picture of her, don't know why...I was in the moment I guess. I just wanted ONE picture, a nice...smiling...picture. This is how the session went down. (All I know is this is NOT my child - don't know where THESE genes came from ...her dad?)
OH BROTHER!

AMEN!

WEEKEND GETAWAY

Thanks to my good husband, I was able to escape for the whole weekend. I spent it with fellow blogging friends, (thanks a bunch Smart Mama!), played a thousand games of scrabble with my parents, ate 3 lobsters with my mom, (thanks dad!) took a few naps and got to see my TWIN BROTHER for a whole day!

We talked, we ate, we laughed and laughed some more and then we went home...
(thanks for the picture LL)
Do we look anything like twins?:)
Mi Madre - I just love her...
We even got Ben into a game of scrabble - nice frito fingers...

See you next month for OUR birthday Ben!

UNITY THROUGH SERVICE

"Unity which comes to a family or to a people softened by the Spirit will bring great power. With that power will come recognition from the world. Whether that recognition brings praise or envy, it could lead us to pride. That would offend the Spirit. But there is a protection against pride, that sure source of disunity. It is to see the bounties which God pours upon us not only as a mark of His favor but an opportunity to join with those around us in greater service."

SERIOUS FASHION STATEMENT!

I was debating whether or not to post the pictures of my pre and post surgery but after all the HOOPLA going around about Sarah Palin, I felt that she needed some competition. Nothing says style like a surgery "shower cap"!
I look HOT! (who's with me?)
Sarah Palin WHO?
("Seriously Mom? You're embarrassing me!")
Even this guy wanted in on the action...
I thought you'd appreciate the post shower cap/surgery/drugged look I got going on.
This my friends is what the port actually looks like. My surgeon kindly sterilized it for me so that I could bring it home for my children to see.

The End!:)

NICE KNOWIN' YA!

Hello my dear friend Port...today is the day you must come out. You've been a great friend, really you have! You were there when I needed you most. Unfortuanately for me, this was nothing but a friendship of convience and now that I no longer have a need for you...I must kick you to the curb. I'm sorry if this hurts, maybe even stings a little...but think about all the times you hurt me...there, now we're even. Maybe someday we'll meet again. (I'll have my people call your people.)

UNANSWERED QUESTIONS...

Unanswered questions
I have been thinking about this topic for a long, long time. Six years to be exact. When Ben was born, many tests were done to find out why? Why was he born with a brain that didn't grow in utero? Was it something that I did? Or didn't do? For the first couple of years, I was stuck on why? Not that having any answers would change anything, not that I would want it to and not that I would worry about it happening again. I think maybe it's my
type A personality. Eventually I was able to let go.
**********
Fast forward 6 1/2 years later and here I am again. I just got a call from my "high risk" OB doctor up at DHMC letting me know the results of my pathology report - on the baby and placenta. When I lost the baby, we agreed to full testing of both to see if we could find some answers. Well...according to the reports, they weren't able to come up with any reason. Of course as I delved further, I found that they didn't end up testing the baby even though Steve and I had requested it. The placenta reports are being forwarded to a pathologist that specializes in placentas and my dr. also explained more in detail my pregnancy and how sick I was to him. She's hoping that maybe he'll be able to find something that the others didn't. Receiving this phone call was actually really hard and affected me in a way that I never would have thought. Maybe because I still don't know why? There isn't some obvious answer that would maybe give me closure. I guess this is where faith comes in to play. I do have faith that whatever happened was in God's plan and somehow I am able to take comfort in that...

MY STRIPPLING WARRIOR

I can't help but feel so grateful that while I was sick, this little fighter stayed well. This is the first year of his entire life that he has not been hospitalized once for an illness. Now if that's not a miracle, then I don't know what is.

MY BEST FRIEND'S WEDDING

Not MY best friend silly...Steve's best friend. Chris Noyes was married this weekend to his new bride, Meghan Howe. Chris works with Steve at the police department and the two have become really close over the years. Steve was honored to be one of Chris' ushers for his wedding. We had a blast and really enjoyed being part of their special day.
**********
Steve paid a dollar (he's cheap like that:)) to dance with his best friend
This was before the wedding, waiting for the bride to arrive. Does Steve seem to dwarf all other groomsmen or is it just me?:)
Chris and Meghan love the Red Sox and had a Red Sox theme...hence the "red socks".
Becky and Steve
After the ceremony...
Becky and Allison toasting the happy couple. (virgin strawberry daiquiris...my favorite!)
